The passenger plane crashed into the sea after taking off from an airport in Indonesia. The incident took place around 2.30 pm on Saturday. Srivijaya Air had 72 passengers and crew on board. The country's navy said it had found the crash site at sea.
The news agency Reuters quoted the Indonesian transport minister as saying that the plane had crashed into the sea. The Datik com quoted Transport Minister Budi Kariya as saying it had crashed 12 miles from the airport.
According to the news agency AFP, the model of this aircraft of Srivijaya Air is Boeing 737-500. It was en route from Jakarta to Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan province. Four minutes after taking off from the airport, it lost contact with the radar, the BBC reported.
