Gunmen have abducted two nurses in an attack on a hospital in Nigeria's northwestern state of Kaduna. Kidnappings for ransom are nothing new in the country. However, this is the first time the hospital has been attacked.
A nurse who survived the attack told the BBC that gunmen stormed a hospital in the village of Eden and began searching for hospital staff.
When the gunmen started firing blank shots, the two nurses ran out, thinking it was an emergency warning. Then they were abducted.
The incident took place two days after some students were picked up from a private university near the town of Kaduna. At least 50 people were killed in a gun attack on a village near the African state of Zamfara on Thursday.
