It seems that militant groups are also involved with Hefazat: Home Minister

Militant groups appear to have been linked to Hefazat-e-Islam, which has been wreaking havoc in the country for two days. These mischievous attempts are to disrupt the running of a beautiful, peaceful country by creating chaos by calling strikes. Not only Hefazat, but the bamboo fort also proves the involvement of those who previously organized terrorist and militant organizations. The tactics are telling. It is believed that it may have the support of Jamaat-Shibir, Harkatul Jihad, and BNP.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said this in response to a question while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday.

Hefazat-e-Islam called for a strike on Saturday and a strike on Sunday in protest of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh to mark Bangabandhu's birth centenary and the golden jubilee of independence. Massive attacks, vandalism, chases, and counter-chases took place in different parts of the country during the protests. There have been attacks, vandalism, and looting of weapons in several police stations.

Even on the day of the strike on Sunday, car vandalism, arson, road blockade and attacks are happening all over the country including Dhaka. When the law enforcement agencies tried to control the situation, they were attacked, at one stage there were chases between the two sides. Attacks and arson were carried out at various places including railway stations. As many as 10 people have been killed in clashes in Brahmanbaria and four in Chittagong till Sunday.

Asked if Hefazat was the only one carrying out violence in different places, or whether there was someone else behind it, the Home Minister said, "Look, it could be." It is believed that it may have the support of Jamaat-Shibir, Harkatul Jihad and BNP. We are looking into everything. We will not let anyone down wherever they are.

Who is meant by militant organization? In this regard, the Home Minister said, you have seen before - there are some militant organizations. This includes helpers. Something invisible to Jamaat-e-Islami ... When we pull the strings, we see that the leaders of these militant groups have been leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami before. Say Harkatul Jihad, say Ansar Ullah Bangla Team, whatever you say - all the main leadership has come from Jamaat-Shibir.
