U.S. law enforcement agencies are scrutinizing National Guard troops to ensure the safety of newly elected President Joe Biden is not compromised.
Daniel Hawkinson, head of the National Guard Bureau, was questioned on Sunday by CBS about whether the troops arriving in Washington were being screened. In response, he said the Secret Service and the FBI are doing the job.
After the attack on the parliament building on January 8, some of the attackers have been accused of having links with the army. Some of the attackers were said to have military ties or had previously been involved.
Strict security measures have been put in place in and around Biden's swearing-in ceremony, fearing another violent attack. CBC News.
